Who we are

Smart Homes Security & Safety (“we”, “us”) is responsible for the personal information you share with us through this website or when you use our services. You can contact us at hello@smarthomessecurity.co.uk.

What we collect

• When you fill in our enquiry form: your name, phone number, email address, postcode, type of property, what you’re interested in and anything you tell us in your message.
• If you become a customer: your address, details of the equipment we install, appointment details and, if you join the Care Plan, what’s needed to take your payments. Card and bank details are handled by our payment provider — we don’t store them.
• Technical information: like any website, our hosting provider processes basic technical data (such as your IP address) to deliver pages securely and protect the site from abuse.

How we use it

• To reply to your enquiry and arrange your consultation
• To prepare quotes, carry out installations and provide support
• To manage your Care Plan membership, if you have one
• To keep the records we’re legally required to keep

We won’t send you marketing without your permission, and we never sell your information.

Our lawful basis

We use your information to take steps at your request before entering into a contract (for example, preparing a quote), to perform our contract with you, to meet our legal obligations (such as keeping tax records), and for our legitimate interests in running and improving our business.

Who we share it with

Only with service providers who help us run the business — such as our website host (Cloudflare), and our email and payment providers — and only as much as they need. They must keep your information secure and may only use it to provide their service to us.

Your cameras and devices

Your devices are registered to your own account. We don’t store your camera footage and we can’t see it. If you ask us for remote support, we’ll only access what’s needed, with your permission.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that don’t go ahead: up to 12 months
• Customer records: up to 6 years after our last work for you, to meet accounting and legal requirements

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to have it transferred to you or someone else. To use any of these rights, email hello@smarthomessecurity.co.uk.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
